Congrats to Caffo!

November 01, 2009 By: helenjane Category: Game Updates

He was the one member of Joanie Loves Bocce that placed first in the 3rd Annual Thursday Night Chili Cookoff at Crane Park two weeks ago.

Cornbread winners

Congrats to Caroline and Russell, non-Joanie winnners as well.

Chili Winners!

How’re we playing?
Well we’re playing Casino Cowboys this Thursday in a makeup game.
Playoffs are this weekend.
We may be a wild card, may not.
Guess that’s what they mean by wild card.

Caffo, if we could get your exquisite Korn Bread recipe, we’ll let you play closest to the beer for now and for ever.

Game three, As Good as it Gets, 2-1

May 05, 2009 By: helenjane Category: Game Updates

Since James was quarantined due to his recent return from Mexico, he and I stayed home with the baby and missed the game.

Tony stepped in as Capo and performed amazingly, we won two and only lost one.

Game 1 was won point by excruciating point by Caffo, Paul, Brittany and Tony. All I keep hearing about was Paul’s rock star rolling status which elevated to the final point for the win.

Game 2 was a quick and dirty blow-out played by Caffo, KBalls, Brittany and Tom. This dream team won 12- 1.
Do it!

Sadly we lost game 3, no matter.

The theme was foods folded, tucked or stuffed and Caffo’s sweet and savory puff envelopes were the hit of the night.

Game Two, Vino Pallino, 3-0

April 24, 2009 By: helenjane Category: Game Updates

I wasn’t at the game, instead, I suffered at home with the death plague.

Those who were at the game told me that Vino Pallino crumbled in the face of our mad skillz. More accurately, Vino Pallino crumbled in the face of Kevin Bersofsky’s mad skillz.

Casinos abound, first with James and Caffo, then with Paul and Natalie. I can smell next week’s booty, lots of gold stars, lots of silver.

In honor of this, our second game, the food theme was Two.

Caffo won the non-existent competition again, with his fried macaroni blocks. Creamy, crunchy, the use of truffle oil, the whole thing was eye-rollingly good. Tony’s KFC and sides, perfection. Natalie’s pesto toasts, Paul’s twice-baked mini potatoes, James and I brought tomato soup cups and grilled cheese pokers, all awesome.

The number two better know how we honored it.
We honored Two good.

Game 1, Paisans, 0-3

April 18, 2009 By: helenjane Category: Game Updates

Instead of lifting pints this winter at the Silverado Brewing Company, the Paisans played in the Napa league. This may be the reason they beat us 3-0 for the first game of the season.

The food theme was Special Sauce.
Natalie’s asparagus and mustard dip, Brittany’s dad’s salsa recipe, my Indonesian Peanut Sauce, my memory fails me here. If you remember what you brought, please add it to the comments and we’ll add it to the record.

Team Joanie ended the evening at Ana’s Cantina, with memorable performances by Malcolm and Caffo.
